Summer is almost here and we are loving the outdoors. Our favorite activity is to go to the park with friends, grill and enjoy the outdoors. It is such a wonderful and relaxing time.

With that, food is always a big highlight when at the park. We love cooking outdoors; grilling is so much fun! My husband and many of our friends are vegetarian, so we are always grilling a variety of vegetables such as corn on the cob, sweet potato, asparagus, and, of course, veggie burgers. MorningStar Farms® Spicy Black Bean Burgers are a favorite and our go-to for grilling season. These burgers are so flavorful and are a perfect protein for vegetarians.

We love to do a burger platter, where everyone can choose their toppings and custom-make their burger. My favorite is adding the basics: lettuce, tomato, and onions. However, the star always is the spread. I love to add creamy avocado sauce to my burgers. This sauce is a bit spicy with the addition of jalapeños and gives the perfect creamy texture to the burger. That’s why I think you’re going to love this Black Bean Burger with the creamy avocado sauce as much as I do!

Let’s talk a bit about these Spicy Black Bean Burgers from MorningStar Farms. As many people in my family are vegetarian, we are always trying veggie burger options on the market. And these spicy black bean burgers are a notch apart. Even though I am not a vegetarian myself, I enjoy these veggie burgers just as much.

We love that they are meatless, easy to prepare, and each is 110 calories. They also contain 9g of protein. These burgers contain egg whites, so they are not vegan. However, MorningStar Farms has many other plant-based options to choose from. You can easily find their products in the frozen foods aisle at major grocery stores, where meat alternatives are sold.

Best way to cook the burgers

Our preferred way to cook these burgers is on the grill, while at the park or at home. This way, we can pair them with some wonderful grilled veggies.

These burgers cooked up perfectly without falling apart or getting stuck to the grill. All you need to do is take the frozen patties out of the package and place them on the grill over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side. You can also toast the buns on the grill along with the patties.

If you don’t have a grill, you can also prepare them in a skillet, in the oven or in the microwave.

You can also add a cheese slice on the patties once it is cooked on one side. We skipped adding cheese, as we are going to add the creamy avocado sauce.

When with a crowd at a summer barbecue, we like to set out different options and let everyone build their own burger.

Grilled burgers, bun, sauce, onions, tomatoes and chips served

My favorite way to make mine is to start with the avocado sauce on the bottom bun. Add some lettuce, a slice or two of onion, and tomato. Then, place the burger patty and top with a dollop of the avocado sauce.

Of course, you can switch to use just mayo and sliced avocados. But I must tell you, this is the best combination. You’ve got to try the spicy black bean burger along with this creamy avocado sauce.

Any way you serve them, these burgers are always a hit. No need for your vegetarian friends to feel left out at social events when you can make them these Spicy Black Bean Burgers!

    1. Thanks Sweete. The avocado sauce is delicious with this burger or just for dipping chips too.
